Lista 3D Configurator
Lista, a Stanley Black and Decker brand, manufactures customizable industrial cabinets to workstations that are shipped across the world. We were ask to digitize their products so customers across the world could configure their unique cabinet solutions.
Challenge
Lista's sales were limited to the physical reach of the sales team. In order to help get their products in front of a wider audience they needed to digitize their business.
In order build a fully customizable configurator we needed to understand exactly how every component in the catalogue worked together to identify different combination as well as errors or contradictions. Lista's product line is both deep and wide, offering an array of possible configurations with possible housings, drawers, trays, colors and accessories. As the product owner on the project, I worked closely with the client to review our product rules and call out edge-cases. Together with the developers and the designers on the team, we created our own rules engine to power the configurator and information archituchture to guide our UX/UI decisions.
Solution
We spoke with customers and stakeholders and used their feedback to shape our design approach; a 3D configurator was designed to allow customers to visualize their configuration through out their customization with a canvas on the left and menu of components and parts on the right, which is categorized by feature type i.e. color, housing, interior components. Our design is responsive so both customers and Lista sales representative can use mobile devices to visualize products and help inform their decisions.
Added Features
With an update version of the configurator, users are now able to configure multiple cabinets and workstation and see all their configuration in one place where they can apply global colors, locking systems
Results
Lista is able to receive informative lead forms including all the component parts and details of each cabinet a customer configures, making it easier for the sales team to close deals and help customers at a faster rate.
